Chronicle / Poder sin límites

Questions:

1. Power gives the possibility of doing whatever you want. What can you say about it?
2. Write a brief description of the main characters.
3. What can you say about having super powers?
4. What can you say about those guys who had powers?
5. If you had the possibility to ask for three wishes, wich ones would you ask for? why?

Answers:

1. I don't really think so, you can have power but you can't do whatver you want because you're not the only person in the world, so you have to respect the rights of others and first come the values that you have and the education that you have received during years.

2. Teacher I didn't go to school the days that my classmates watched the movie, so you told me that I only had to answer the other questions. Please remember that.

3. Having superpowers would be indeed amazing, you know, you could help society and people who need it, but in my opinion, it's more you also can be a hero without having superpowers, by simply helping others, no matter if is just a simple favor, you become a hero

4. I don't even know who has powers and I consider superpowers are too far for humans.

5. The first one would be to conservate my family forever because they're the most important persons in my life and I can't imagine how would be my life without them.
T
he second one would be to have superpowers like read minds and the ability to fly because with those kind of powers my life would be easier.

My third wish would be to be admited at the University of Cauca and having three wishes more. lol.

Awa-Kwaiker people

The awa or Kwaiker are an ancient indigenous people that inhabit the regions of northern Ecuador and southern Colombia particularly the departments of Nariño and Putumayo. Their entire population is arounf 32,555 members. They speak a language called Awapit.

Religious Beliefs: Because it is not easy to establish close relationships with the Awá Kwaiker, given their reserved behavior with strangers, it is difficult to describe their religious beliefs. Nonetheless, it is known that they do have a rich corpus of myths and symbols, through which they attempt to explain their world. Their environment, the jungle, is populated with spirits who control their lives. The Awá Kwaiker conceive of a supernatural world populated by imaginary beings physically similar to the Indians but with divine powers. These beings are in charge of watching over people's lives and regulating and organizing the world according to the values considered important by the Awá Kwaiker. The Awá Kwaiker also have adopted other beliefs of the surronding settlers and Indians of other groups which, in the end, also operate as forms of social control. Although many Awá Kwaiker attend Catholic religious services, they do so fundamentally owing to their desire to imitate customs that give them prestige in the eyes of Whites, rather than because of a real internalization of these religious beliefs.

Ceremonies: Honoring ancestors, wakes, and the celebration of funerals are the most important ceremonial events. In spite of the influence of the church, traditional beliefs still dominate on these occasions. Here the Awá Kwaiker manifest the oldest elements of their culture, as these ceremonies are private events: in addition, the customary intoxication permits uninhibited and spontaneous behavior.

Death and Afterlife: Death is seen as passing to another life. As a consequence, when the dead are buried, food, tools, and clothes are placed in the tomb so that the person will be able to fulfill his or her duties in the next life. Because of this belief, very sick people, especially old people, receive no special care to prolong their lives, since this would be contrary to supernatural design. In fact, the funeral rituals that are celebrated at the end of a year are enacted with the objective of bringing the spirit of the dead person to the celebration. Funerals are also a means of "freeing" widows and widowers so that they are able to remarry.

A strange theory about tremors

Ok, to my English class , my teacher asked me to write a myth, I’ll try to do my best… don’t get your hopes up I’m not so good at writing but, here I go…

My myth is about tremors and earthquakes, and this is my strange theory: the earth is such a living creature and it has the same kind of problems that humans have so sometimes it gets sick.

Have you ever gotten a flu? I guess you’ve gotten at least one, so you’re gonna understand how does the earth feel, these weird tremors that you get when you feel like you’re getting frozen are the same tremors that happen because of the earth gets sick. In the worst of cases, when the earth is getting an extreme chills is when the earthquakes occur.

This is what I think about tremors, I hope you've enjoyed my myth and that you've understood what I tried to explain. Have a nice day!
